What should I expect?

After our initial phone conversation, we can agree a suitable time and date to meet.

Sessions last for an hour, and you are free to talk about whatever you wish to. The first session will give you the opportunity to see if you would like to continue with counselling. Some people feel just a few sessions is enough for them at that time to continue to work on their issue alone. Other people find that their first session is a catalyst for change and wish to meet their counsellor again soon after.

The first session will also give you the opportunity to see if the counsellor you have chosen is the right counsellor for you. There is never an obligation to book a further appointment. If you feel you would prefer another counsellor at Arch just say and we’ll make a new appointment for you.

If you decide you would like to meet again we will book a time in the diary that suits us both. You are in control of each session and the amount of sessions you feel is right for you. Every 6 sessions we will review where you are up to in relation to where you want to be, check that we both feel we’re going in the right direction, and that counselling is still working for you.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s up to you! Some people like to see how it goes, others like to set a target. It doesn’t matter which you choose, as long as it’s right for you. As we work together, you will know how things are going for you and what you need.

What next?

Please do call us to discuss how we can help you. There’s no obligation to arrange an appointment; our initial conversation will focus on what’s going on for you right now, and how we can help you. Our number is 0741 581 4882 or we can call you back.
